The Sharia Financial Management (MKS) Program of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta received positive news today (10/06). One of its lecturers, Abdul Qoyum, S.E.I., M.Sc.Fin., successfully defended his dissertation at the open doctoral promotion session of the Postgraduate Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The online open examination, held at 09:00 AM WIB via the Zoom platform, included examiners such as Dr. Misnen Ardiansyah, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., ACPA., Abdul Moin, S.E., MBA., Ph.D., CQRM., Dr. H. Syafiq Mahmadah Hanafi, M.Ag., and Dr. Muhammad Fakhri Husein, SE., M.Si., while Prof. Drs. H. Hadri Kusuma, MBA., Ph.D., and Dr. Ibnu Qizam, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA. served as promoters.

The dissertation of the young lecturer from FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga, affectionately known as Gus Qoyum, centered on the topic of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) companies in Indonesia and Malaysia. The complete title of his dissertation is “Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), and Portfolio Performance: An Integrative Search for Islamic ESG Firm in Indonesia and Malaysia.” In general, the dissertation delves into the comparison of portfolio performance among companies that prioritize social, environmental, and governance considerations in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Following the successful defense of his dissertation from the examiners’ inquiries, Abdul Qoyum is set to be awarded a doctorate in the field of Islamic economics. Dr. Abdul Qoyum joins the ranks of postgraduate doctoral program graduates who have swiftly completed their studies in less than 3 years, making him the youngest Ph.D. holder at FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga. This remarkable achievement is a testament to his hard work and perseverance, especially considering his demanding schedule involving teaching, community outreach, organizational responsibilities, and other social engagements. Despite these commitments, he managed to expedite his advanced studies effectively.
