Nur Arifah, a student of the Islamic Accounting Study Program, Class of 2016, once again brought honor to FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga by securing 2nd place in the Call for Essay at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Gadjah Mada University (FEB UGM). The event, held by the Master of Accounting Student Association, FEB UGM, consisted of 3 activities: Call For Essay, Accounting Competition, and Strategic Seminar. The event took place on Thursday, October 24, 2019, while the seminar will be held next week.
The Call For Essay with the theme “pros and cons of e-payment or burn rate” aimed to encourage students to think critically and creatively in developing their ideas and thoughts on the progress of technology and the economy, and to be responsive in facing the challenges brought about by change.
The essay writing competition aimed to stimulate students’ creativity and interest in expressing their ideas in producing a scientific paper.
There were 5 finalists from UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Bengkulu University, Muhammadiyah University of Gresik, and Ahmad Dahlan University. The five finalists presented their essays in front of the jury, consisting of Master of Accounting lecturers. The 1st place winner was from Muhammadiyah University of Gresik, while the 2nd place winner was from UIN Sunan Kalijaga, and the 3rd place winner was from UAD.
“My hope in writing is to express ideas related to the current development of electronic money. Winning is the outcome of our endeavors, but it is not the main priority. The main priority is to go through the entire process, participate, and maximize it, all whie being supported by prayers and diligent efforts,” concluded Nur Arifah.
