This event marked the inaugural collaboration between the Faculty of Islamic Religion (FAI), the journal publisher (FAI) Afkaruna, and KSEI FIES at the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.
The competition commenced with the selection of the top 30 abstracts, followed by the selection of the 10 best papers. The 10 finalists who advanced to the semifinal round consisted of: UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Gadjah Mada University, Brawijaya University, Airlangga University, Diponegoro University, State University of Padang, UIN Sunan Ampel, IAIN Surakarta, and the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. The remaining teams proceeded to the paper presentation stage, case study, and open semi-debate discussion.
The points accumulation and the champions selected by the jury are as follows:
1st Place: UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta
2nd Place: Gadjah Mada University
3rd Place: Brawijaya University
The outcome of this competition is not just about winning as a champion; the writings of the finalists are also set to be published in the Afkaruna journal (http://journal.umy.ac.id/index.php/afkaruna), a publication indexed in SINTA 2. This means that the works and recommendations of the finalists will be accessible to the general public, with the aim of contributing to the advancement of scholarly pursuits at the student level.
Dewi Wahyu Setyo Rini stated that this achievement is part of the process that has been pursued, “The process is crucial, but what’s even more important is to refine the intentions behind each step. A sound process can be compromised if the intentions driving it are not aligned with the desired outcome,” she said.
The Head of the Islamic Financial Management Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, H.M. Yazid Afandi, M.Ag., expressed his pride in this achievement, hoping many more accomplishments by the students at regional, national, and international levels in the future. Furthermore, the Islamic Financial Management Study Program is scheduled for Re-Accreditation next year, which will be evaluated based on 9 criteria. Such accomplishments will undoubtedly enhance the program’s standing during the accreditation process. Additionally, this achievement has the potential to bolster the reputation of FEBI and UIN Sunan Kalijaga on a national scale.
