UIN Sunan Kalijaga Ranks TOP 3 PTKIN According to EduRank 2024

The State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has once again achieved a remarkable milestone on the international stage. According to the EduRank 2024 rankings, UIN Sunan Kalijaga has been ranked among the top 25 universities in Asia for Theology/Divinity/Religious Studies. This achievement makes UIN Sunan Kalijaga the only university in Indonesia to earn a place on this prestigious list. This recognition further strengthens UIN Sunan Kalijaga's reputation as a leading Islamic higher education institution in the study of religious and Islamic studies at a global level.

At the national level, UIN Sunan Kalijaga also demonstrated dominance in the fields of economics and business. According to the EduRank 2024 rankings, the Economics Study Program UIN Sunan Kalijaga ranks first among State Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIN) and 27th nationally. Meanwhile, the Business program ranks second among PTKIN and 43rd nationally. This achievement underscores UIN Sunan Kalijaga's commitment to providing quality and competitive education, not only in Islamic studies but also in the development of economics and business.

According to the reports on the official EduRank website, university rankings are based on research performance in specific studies. For example, in the Gender Studies category, EduRank uses data from 8,810 citations of 9,085 academic papers produced by 49 universities in Indonesia. This data is then analyzed and adjusted based on publication dates, ultimately producing the final scores for the rankings.

A glimpse of EduRank, it is a global university ranking platform that uses objective data to evaluate higher education institutions. Its assessment methodology is based on three main aspects. First, Academic Performance, is measured by the number of academic publications and citations produced by the institution. Second, Alumni Popularity, which assesses the track record of well-known alumni in various fields as a representation of the quality of university graduates. Third, non-academic, which includes indicators such as popularity in social media and the influence of the institution beyond academia. The combination of these three aspects produces a comprehensive and accurate assessment of a university's reputation.

Responding to this achievement, Prof. Dr. Misnen Ardiansyah, SE, M.Si., Ak., CA., ACPA, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) UIN Sunan Kalijaga expressed gratitude for the achievements achieved by the faculty and university. He emphasized that this achievement is the result of the hard work of the entire academic community, from lecturers, and students, to administrative staff, consistently committed to improving the quality of education and research in Islamic economics and business. Additionally, the full support from various stakeholders has been a crucial factor in realizing this proud achievement.

Dr. Sunaryati, S.E., M.Si. Vice Dean I of FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga also expressed pride in the recognition. According to her, this success serves as motivation to continue driving innovation and the development of better academic programs. She hopes that this achievement will inspire students and lecturers to be more active in academic activities, research, and scientific publications, so that UIN Sunan Kalijaga will be increasingly recognized not only at the national level but also on the international stage.
