Public Hearing of the Dean with FEBI Students

On Saturday (04/09/2021), the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held an online Public Hearing event using the Zoom platform. This initiative was led by the Student Senate (SEMA) and the Student Executive Board (DEMA) of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, with the goal of providing a platform for students to express their aspirations to the faculty. The event was attended by the faculty leadership, including Dr. Afdawaiza, S.Ag., M.Ag., the Dean of FEBI, Dr. Misnen Ardiansyah, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., ACPA., the Vice Dean I, Dr. Sunaryati, SE., M.Si., the Vice Dean II, Dr. Ahmad Salehudin, S.Th.I., M.A., the Vice Dean III, as well as the Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs.

The Dean of FEBI expressed his hope that SEMA and DEMA in FEBI would support the existing policies in the faculty, particularly in the academic realm, and avoid seeking loopholes that could lead to controversies. “The role of SEMA and DEMA is crucial, serving as a bridge between the faculty and the students. The programs in field I have been well publicized. Despite the obstacles presented by the pandemic, the learning objectives have been achieved. The role of SEMA and DEMA is essential in fostering research interest among students. Therefore, collaboration between students and lecturers is necessary to enhance the quality of education,” stated Vice Dean I.

Dr. Sunaryati, S.E., M.Si., also known as Mrs. Narti, the Vice Dean II, emphasized that the faculty is receptive to hearing students’ complaints and feedback. Field II encompasses general administration, human resources, and financial matters of an administrative nature, and as such, all policies in field II adhere to university policies. Consequently, there are no specific FEBI policies related to financial administration.

During the event, Vice Dean III also articulated the policy, stating, “In general, field III policies support academic abilities alongside non-academic abilities. Thus far, when I have accompanied students, not all Student Activity Units (LKM) of FEBI have reported their activities. Furthermore, I have frequently emphasized that one should not question the quality, for instance, by asking why the English score should be 450. FEBI’s objective is to cultivate graduates who are competitive in the job market,” emphasized Vice Dean III.

The event proceeded smoothly, with Syihab Zaenal Musthofa, the general secretary of SEMA FEBI, serving as the moderator. The attending students displayed great enthusiasm, actively posing questions and engaging throughout the event.
