Capacity Building at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, UIN Sunan Kalijaga

The Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held a Capacity Building event from July 13 to 15, 2022, at the Palace Hotel Cipanas, Bogor, West Java. The event aimed to enhance the competencies of educators and administrative staff in the areas of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and excellent service within FEBI.

The Capacity Building event was attended by the Vice-Rector for General Administration, Planning, and Finance, Prof. Dr. Phil. Sahiron Syamsudin, MA; the Dean of FEBI, Dr. Afdawaiza, M.Ag.; the Vice Dean for Academic and Institutional Affairs, Dr. Misnen Ardiansyah, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., ACPA; the Vice Dean for Administration and Finance, Dr. Sunaryati, SE., M.Si.; the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Ahmad Salehudin; as well as the heads and secretaries of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, heads of departments and sub-departments, and representatives of faculty and administrative staff.

In his presentation, Prof. Sahiron Syamsudin emphasized that human resource management should not solely rely on ideal assumptions but must also consider real-world conditions. For instance, he addressed the current issue of phasing out contract workers, which is a widely discussed policy. If the regulation is strictly enforced, requiring the elimination of contract workers by 2023, what will happen to those already employed? Is it feasible to convert them into civil servants (ASN) given the government's financial constraints? In response to this, Sahiron mentioned that the Rectors' Forum within the State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTAIN) is seeking to review the implementation of Government Regulation No. 49 of 2018.

Earlier, the Dean of FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Dr. Afdawaiza, M.Ag., stated that providing the best service is a key commitment of the faculty. To support this commitment, the faculty has systematically and structurally developed programs to enhance the capacity of its educational and administrative staff at FEBI. "I am confident that with the continuous improvement of FEBI's human resources, the quality of services at FEBI will also improve," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Division at FEBI, Edi Yusuf Setiabudi, S.E., in his opening remarks, stated that the Capacity Building initiative undertaken by the faculty is the faculty's effort to facilitate the rights of educational personnel to develop themselves. "There are rights and obligations that intersect, and when managed well, will support FEB's tagline of Excellence and Dignity,' he expressed.
