Ramadan is the perfect time to promote acts of kindness, and the Center for Empowerment and Development Studies of Pesantren (P2EP) at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business is actively working towards this goal. They recently held the NGABAR (NGAbuburit BAReng) event virtually, which took place on Friday and Saturday, May 7-8, 2021, just before the time to break the fast. The event was conducted via Zoom Meeting FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga.
The event commenced with a speech by Dr. Afdawaiza., M.Ag., the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business. In his address, he emphasized the strategic role of Pesantren as outlined in Law No. 18 of 2019 concerning Pesantren. According to the law, Pesantren is mandated to fulfill the functions of education, da’wah, and community empowerment. In the third function, community empowerment, Pesantren is believed to be able to be part of the independence of the ummah, particularly in the economic sector. Dr. Afdawaiza., M.Ag. then continued, “So what Pesantren needs now is the development of human resources skills and its business potential. To realize this, it certainly requires a deeper understanding to map the potential of pesantren in business development.”
