In celebration of its tenth anniversary, the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held a webinar “Young Generation and Economic Challenges in the Post-Covid-19 Era Towards Golden Indonesia” on Wednesday (23/03). The event, which took place in the theatrical room on the fifth floor of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business building, featured three speakers: Dr. H. Sandiaga Uno, BBA., MBA., Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy; Dr. Didik Mukrianto, SH, MH, Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR-RI) and also Chairman of the National Karang Taruna; and Dr. Achmad Maulani, M.Si, Expert Staff to the Vice Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR-RI).
In his remarks, the Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Prof. Dr. Phil Al Makin, MA., conveyed that the existence of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business has strategic value in supporting and promoting the welfare of society based on Islamic values. FEBI is a faculty that has continued to expand amidst the closure of numerous study programs that were unable to thrive in the education market. “The interest in FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga is increasing year by year, amidst the closure of numerous study programs.” he said.
Previously, the Dean of FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Dr. Afdawaiza, S.Ag., M.Ag., stated that as it enters its tenth year, FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga has made breakthroughs to participate on the international stage. He emphasized that the current achievements of FEBI are the outcome of collaborative efforts from all parties involved.
The core message of the webinar delivered by the two speakers, Dr. Ahmad Maulani, M.Si (Expert Staff to the Vice Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives), and Dr. Didik Mukrianto, SH, MH (Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Chairman of the National Karang Taruna), is that Indonesia possesses significant potential for transformation. In supporting the demographic bonus from 2020-2030, young people should be agents of change towards Golden Indonesia.
At the end of the event, the webinar concluded with a keynote speech by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia, Dr. H. Sandiaga Uno, BBA., MBA. In his speech, he urged everyone to play an active role in economic recovery and job creation. “With a spirit of collaboration and by harnessing the potential of the young generation, particularly the students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, which is significant, I am optimistic that Indonesia will soon rise again!” he said.
