Student Association of Islamic Banking Study Program Shares with Others

The Islamic Banking Students Association at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held a charitable event called “Islamic Banking Shares Blessings with Others.” This initiative is part of the public relations division’s agenda for the 2021 term at HMPS-PS UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The event is one of the work programs initiated by the public relations division of the HMPS-PS UIN Sunan Kalijaga for the 2021 term. The event aims to promote compassion, particularly within the Islamic banking student community of the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business. Additionally, it seeks to encourage those who are more fortunate to support others during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, this event coincided with the month of Ramadan, a time of abundant blessings and increased opportunities for charitable acts.

The initiative commenced with a two-week pamphlet distribution for fundraising, starting on April 8, 2021, and concluding when donations closed on April 22, 2021. Donations were collected through bank accounts and e-wallets belonging to several members of the public relations division. The total sum of donations collected during this period was Rp2,319,000.

A portion of the donations collected was allocated to the “Madania” orphanage situated at Jalan Ring Road Utara No. 18A, Sleman, Yogyakarta, which provides care for children from diverse backgrounds. Another portion was utilized to procure iftar meals in the form of boxed rice, which were then distributed in various areas of Yogyakarta. The distribution occurred on Friday, April 23, 2021, commencing with the purchase of essential items for the orphanage, including baby diapers, children’s body wash, shampoo, toothpaste, baby oil, baby powder, snacks, and other necessary supplies, as well as basic groceries required by the orphanage. The assistance was symbolically handed over by the head of the public relations division for the 2021 term, Misbakhul Munir, and the head of HMPS-PS 2021, Mohammad Faisal Reza, to a representative of the orphanage’s management.

Following this, the initiative proceeded with the distribution of 100 pre-ordered boxed meals. The distribution commenced with a briefing at the multi-purpose building of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, located opposite the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business, to select recipients and allocate distribution areas. Distribution commenced at 3:30 PM and concluded just before iftar.

Through this sharing activity, we aim to cultivate a spirit of mutual assistance and support, particularly during challenging times, among the students of the Islamic banking study program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. It is also hoped that this initiative will not conclude here, but rather pave the way for similar and even more impactful initiatives in the future. This will enable Islamic banking students to fulfill one of the three pillars of higher education, which is community service, by sharing blessings with those in need.
