OSO Securities Launches Sharia Trading Platform at FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga
Tuesday, February 18, 2020 02:50:34 WIB
The demand for sharia-compliant financial products has been steadily increasing, including the interest in sharia stock trading products. Sharia stocks refer to shares in companies that have undergone a screening process and met the criteria for inclusion in the sharia stock index in the capital market. Investing in stocks within the capital market is considered secure due to the oversight of responsible entities such as the Indonesia Stock Exchange, KPEI, KSEI, and direct supervision by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Furthermore, there is a fatwa from the DSN MUI that legitimizes capital market practices in accordance with sharia principles.
To address this growing demand, OSO Securities, in collaboration with FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga, officially launched the Sharia Trader platform today (18/02). This initiative aligns with the mission of advancing sharia economic knowledge in both theoretical and practical contexts, thereby enhancing the value of FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga.
As it is known, OSO Securities is a securities company that presently operates from an office on the first floor of the FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga building and is a member of the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The company, which underwent a name change in 2011, has a vision to become a leading securities company offering various quality products and services for investing in the Indonesian capital market. In addition, OSO Securities also has missions including:
● Boosting the Indonesian capital market by expanding our network and simultaneously actively developing educational programs for investors.
● Becoming a safe place for investors to invest in the Indonesian stock exchange while still complying with all applicable regulations.
● Creating various innovative products for investors.
● Integrating the Indonesian capital market with the global capital market.
The Launching Event of Sharia Trader was inaugurated by the acting Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Dr-Phil. Sahiron, MA. In his address, he emphasized the necessity for enhanced coordination regarding new products that were previously unavailable, particularly in terms of their legality and legal resources. Meanwhile, the Dean of FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Dr. Syafiq Mahmadah Hanafi, M.Ag., responded positively to the opening of Sharia Trading, expressing hope that it would emerge as an alternative investment option embraced by the general public and the academic community, while also contributing to the overall market share of Sharia finance. The morning Launching Event was also attended by representatives from the OJK, Indonesia Stock Exchange, and the Director of OSO Securities.
Andhini Warih, the Director of OSO Securities, stated that with the launch of this application, OSO openly reaffirms its commitment to consistently offer a secure investment environment in line with Sharia principles (sharia compliance) to the general public and investors. This commitment particularly pertains to the avoidance of debt-based transactions commonly associated with usury.
In addition, the launch of this sharia platform application also aims to:
● Expand the investor base, which previously only had conventional stocks, to also include sharia stocks.
● Provide a safe and accountable choice or alternative for sharia investment.
● Allow investors to easily identify prospective sharia stocks to buy without having to distinguish between sharia and non-sharia stocks, as the application is equipped with the Indonesian Sharia Stock Index (ISSI).
● Offer comprehensive literacy and education in the sharia capital market, a unique initiative considering the limited number of securities that have introduced a sharia application of this nature.
● Address the requirements of investors in the 4.0 era, enabling them to conduct transactions anytime and anywhere through the assistance of a reliable application.

OSO has consistently arranged beneficial activities and programs aimed at promoting knowledge and understanding through seminars and capital market training, catering not only to students but also to members of the general public interested in becoming investors.
In collaboration with FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga, OSO Securities is committed to collaborating in the development of stock investment instruments that adhere to sharia principles. As two complementary institutions, FEBI and OSO should strive to deliver comprehensive education to the public, raising awareness about investing and implementing preventive measures to mitigate fraudulent investment practices that have recently caused harm and concern to the public.
