On Thursday, September 26, 2024, lecturers and students from the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta actively participated in the 10th International Conference of Islamic Economics and Business (ICONIES 2024), held at the Ijen Suites Resort and Convention in Malang. With the theme “Enhancing Islamic Economics, Finance, and Business: Toward Innovative and Sustainable Challenges,” the conference attracted academics, practitioners, and researchers from various countries interested in the development of Islamic economics, finance, and business.
The event was held both in-person and online, attended by several prominent figures. Among them were Prof. Dr. H. M. Zainuddin, M.A., Rector of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, and Dr. H. Misbahul Munir, Lc., M.EI., Dean of the Faculty of Economics UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, present at the event. The official opening was conducted by the Chair of the ICONIES 2024 Organizing Committee at 08:00 WIB, followed by various parallel sessions led by expert speakers in their respective fields.
The conference featured several keynote speakers, including Prof. Dr. Ahmad Zainul Hamdi, M.Ag., Director of Islamic Higher Education, the Ministry of Religious Affairs. In addition, several distinguished speakers participated, including:
● Associate Prof. Dr. Fadillah Binti Mansor (Universiti Malaya, Malaysia)
● Eko Heru Prasetyo, Ph.D. (Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan)
● Fazlur Rahman bin Kamsani (National University of Singapore, Singapore)
● Prof. Dr. Hj. Ilfi Nur Diana, S.Ag., M.Si. (UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Indonesia)
The FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga delegation consisted of lecturer Achmad Nurdany, S.E.I., S.E., M.E.K., and student Anggari Marya Kresnowati, S.E., M.E., from the Sharia Economics program, Muhammad Zein Dedi Setiawan, and FEBI alumna Amila Zamzabila Putri, who also served as the presenter at the conference.
During the event, lecturers and students of FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga presented their research findings effectively and received positive feedback from conference participants. The interactive discussions demonstrated a high appreciation for the quality of the research presented. The participation of FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga’s lecturers and students in this event not only strengthened academic networks at the international level but also demonstrated their commitment to advancing the study of Islamic economics on a global scale.
